intro.gif The Center for Biofluid and Biomimic Research is a National Creative Research Initiative Center, funded by Korean Ministry of Education-Science and Technology. The main research contents are to find out the unknown basic physics of biofluid flow phenomena and the hidden secrets of nature by using advanced quantitative flow visualization techniques. Development of biomimic technologies and diagnosis of circulatory diseases are also being carried out based on the revealed flow characteristics of biofluid flows.

research topics

Many samaras or winged seeds such as maple seeds make autorotational flight during their fall. Autorotation is the result of a delicate equilibrium between gravity, inertia and aerodynamic forces. It is complex int...
The inertial migration of particles in micro-scale flows has received much attention due to its promising applications, such as the membrane-free passive separation of particles or cells. The particles suspended i...
X-ray imaging has significant advantages as one of the most popular diagnostic tools to seethrough various biological systems. We have developed chitosan microparticles incorporating gold nanoparticles (AuNP) as a n...
Windbreak forest has been used for centuries for various purposes including reduction of wind speed, control of heat and moisture transfer and pollutant diffusion, improvement of climate and environment, or ...
In order to investigate the blood flow around the perivalvular area in a human superficial vein using high-frequency ultrasound (HFUS) speckle image velocimetry. HFUS B-mode images were captured from the superfic...
Blood in the outflow tract (OFT) of a chicken embryonic heart exhibits variable flow depending on variation of environmental conditions. The abnormal flow occurs such as back-flow and bradycardia in hypot...
Synchrotron X-ray computed tomography was employed to measure the volume variation of gas diffusion layer (GDL) for polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC). The study was conducted using 3D reconstruction (or a 3D...
Dynamic behaviors of the microdroplet ejected from the inkjet printhead with an elliptical nozzle are investigated using a high-speed micro-imaging system. The elliptic geometry of the nozzle induces elliptical ...
